Cosi fan tutte (Mozart) – Act 1 Scene & Finale

Bored in lockdown, Don Alfonso has been amusing himself by laying a wager with Guglielmo and Ferrando; that he can prove in one day that their fiancées, like all women, are fickle.

We join them in the second scene of the opera: Alfonso has already convinced Fiordiligi and Dorabella that the men will not be coming – they have, sadly, been forced to quarantine for 14 days in a hotel with poor wifi. Now he presents them to Despina, both so artfully disguised that no-one would ever know it was them…

Drinking Songs!

As a fitting finale to #OperaInLockdown, we present a selection of operatic drinking songs taken from Martha (Flowtow), Cavalleria Rusticana (Mascagni), La Périchole (Offenbach), Die Fledermaus (Strauss) and La Traviata (Verdi).
